Kingdom Stewardship: Tithes, Offerings, and the Law of Increase

1. How Much Belongs to God?

Everything belongs to Him.

“The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”
— Psalm 24:1

Our giving begins with the understanding that we do not give God what is ours—we return to Him what already belongs to Him.

2. By Whose Power Is Wealth Obtained?

Wealth is not the product of human strength alone, but the result of God’s enablement.

“You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant.”
— Deuteronomy 8:18

Giving keeps our hearts aligned with the covenant and protects us from pride and self-reliance.

3. How Much of Our Income Is Holy to the Lord?

The tithe belongs to God and is set apart as holy.

“All the tithe… is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD.”
— Leviticus 27:30

The tithe is not a donation—it is a sacred portion.

4. When Should the Tithe Be Given?

The tithe is to be given first, not last.

Some believe they cannot afford to tithe because of financial pressures. Scripture teaches the opposite: when God is honored first, what remains is blessed.

“So your barns will be filled with plenty.”
— Proverbs 3:9–10

Nine-tenths blessed by God goes further than ten-tenths without His favor.

5. Beyond the Tithe: Offerings

In addition to tithes, God calls His people to give offerings.

Offerings are not fixed amounts; they are given freely and joyfully, according to how God has prospered each person.

“Let each one give as he purposes in his heart… for God loves a cheerful giver.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:7

Tithing reflects obedience; offerings express gratitude and love.

6. The Consequences of Unfaithfulness

Scripture clearly teaches that neglecting tithes and offerings brings spiritual and practical consequences.

“You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me.”
— Malachi 3:9

God’s desire is not to condemn, but to restore His people to blessing through obedience.

7. Did Jesus Affirm Tithes and Offerings?

Yes. Jesus affirmed the principle of tithing while emphasizing the heart behind it.

“These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.”
— Matthew 23:23

8. What Are Tithes Used For?

Tithes are designated by God to support His work and those who minister in His house.

“Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance.”
— Numbers 18:21

9. Should Ministry Be Supported by Tithes Today?

Yes. The New Testament affirms this principle.

“Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.”
— 1 Corinthians 9:13–14

10. Where Should Tithes and Offerings Be Given?

God instructs that tithes be brought into the storehouse—the local church.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse.”
— Malachi 3:10

11. What Blessings Are Promised to the Faithful?

God promises supernatural provision, protection, and overflow to those who honor Him.

“I will open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”
— Malachi 3:10–12

12: Conclusion: Stewardship Is a Matter of the Heart

Biblical stewardship recognizes God’s claim on our finances.

“I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving.”
— Psalm 116:17

Giving reflects God’s nature. The greatest act of generosity was God giving His Son.

“For God so loved the world that He gave…”
— John 3:16

A selfish heart is incompatible with Kingdom life.

13. Three Kinds of Givers

1. 1. The Flint – Must be struck to produce anything.
   2. The Sponge – Must be squeezed to give.
   3. The Honeycomb – Overflows naturally with sweetness.
